An Argyle Academy tattoo!

Today is a great day at the Argyle Academy. I started working on a new project (details coming soon), and I just received a short but sweet email with this image attached of an Argyle Academy tattoo:

This is by far one of my favorite matthew drawings, and I'm glad to see that someone else liked it as much as I did.

Folks, next week is an all-out event here at the academy. DARK KNIGHT WEEK! Yep, that's right, an ENTIRE WEEK of Batman drawings.

Festivities start this coming MONDAY, April 23rd, and every day we'll be posting another page (or two). It's our first serialized comic and I hope you'll join us.

Please feel free to copy and paste the banner above to your blog. Help me get the word out!

Not sure if Dark Knight Week is going to be the best thing that's ever happened to you? Here's a sample of what's to come:

Like a Nerd

This morning I read about a new project by one of my favorite artists, Jeff Smith. After 12 years of working on the unfortunately named, Bone series (which you should read if you haven't already!), Jeff has started working with DC comics on a mini series of Captain Marvel. The books look great, and I can't wait to pick them up.

After reading the article I got so excited about the idea of Jeff Smith doing a super hero comic, I decided that it was about time for me to start working on that Batman mini series that you all have been begging for. Well, here's what I've got so far:

MONDAY NIGHT!! FW THOMAS ASKS "ARE YOU READY TO ROCK?!"

It's time again for YET ANOTHER FW Thomas lecture here in the strangely frigid Washington, DC.

Tonight we will be celebrating April (Rock History Month) with readings entirely in the key of rock.

If you're not in the DC area, you can ready the City Paper article here: paints well with others

Real life werewolves!!

Lisa McCarty and Mike Matason's submission to the Werewolf Youth show were these photographs of REAL LIFE WEREWOLF KIDS. I have no idea how they got these.

Also, if you're in the DC area, be sure to pick up a copy of this week's Washington City Paper. There's a nice little article about the show and the Deermilk collective.

More Lowery events! Monday, April 9th - FW Thomas

Folks,

Now you know I never stop. This Monday night is another FW Thomas lecture that you will NEVER forget. You have been warned!

This month's lecture is all about the Rock and the Roll. I will be presenting a new series of drawings called "the Dos and Don'ts of Rock and Roll Fashion" as well as bits from an oral report I wrote in 8th grade called "Saxophone is the New Electric Guitar."

Finally, a bit of rest...well, not really.

After a hectic week of putting together the Werewolf Youth show here in DC, I got caught up on some much needed sleep this weekend. The blog will (finally) return to normal this week with new Argyle Academy comics and journal drawings.

There was a short interview with me on the DCist that you can read while you wait for me to post some images from the opening.

Again, much thanks to Jym Davis (www.jymdavis.com) and Lisa McCarty for helping me put the show together. Jym stayed with Rachel and I while he was in town and I'd have to say that the highlight of his trip was watching a borrowed VHS copy of "the Wizard of Speed and Time."
